128 artists entered the Maľba competition

The opportunity to participate in the Maľba competition was performed by young professional artists for the 13th time. The registration results show that this will be a strong year. The application was filled by 128 contestants. Their paintings are now evaluated by an international jury, which will select 20 finalists.

The VUB Foundation has been supporting the young artists for 13 years through Maľba (Painting) Competition – The VUB Foundation award for paintings by young artists. The motivation for young artists is not only a financial reward, but also a recognition of a reputable international jury and an opportunity to establish themselves on the art scene.

This year the paintings of Slovak talents will be evaluated by Czech artist Jiří Kovanda, Hungarian art theorist and curator David Fehér, director of Italian Gallerie D'Italia Michele Giuseppe Coppola with Slovak painter and teacher Erik Šille.

In the first step, the jury will select 20 paintings. The authors of these works will submit to the shortlist. In the second round, these competitions will be judged by the jury in the originals. Finally, three winners will receive an prize total of EUR 20,000.
